NOTIORA delivers text search and analysis pipelines TO Bio, Chem, and Medical Informatics MARKETS

Notiora Text Analytics Collection released
on SciTegic’s Pipeline Pilot Platform

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – July 11, 2005 – Notiora, Inc. announced today the release of their Text Analytics collection for Pipeline Pilot™ from SciTegic®.  Focused on the bio, chemical and medical informatics sectors, this new offering will make it possible to improve existing bioinformatics and cheminformatics protocols in Pipeline Pilot by incorporating relevant information from public literature databases and internal text documents. Relationships, correlations, or trends found outside the laboratory in literature and document resources can have a profound impact on discovery research, and the Text Analytics collection is the first commercial product to provide these capabilities with the automation and integration advantages of a data pipelining environment.  The Text Analytics collection from Notiora is being distributed exclusively by SciTegic for use with Pipeline Pilot.

“The partnership with SciTegic illustrates another application of our Text Analytics collection on an intensely difficult text-related problem, together we’ve married their best-in-class pipelining informatics software with our core technology,” said Brian Bartell, Chief Technology Officer of Notiora. “Scientists will be able to couple bench research with literature analysis at the deepest levels.  The result is a solution set that will set a new bar of capabilities, enabling scientists to research with more speed, accuracy, and flexibility than ever before.”

The Text Analytics collection includes over fifty new Pipeline Pilot components for the search, characterization, and mining of text resources.    With these components, local and 3rd party data sources can be searched with a single universal query, returning the search results to Pipeline Pilot in a common structure. The suite presently supports online engines including: Google, PubMed, NIH Crisp Awarded Grants, and PatFT US Patent search, but it is easily extensible by the customer to search other data sources.  In addition, trends and correlations in the scientific literature or with experimental results can be discovered, including for example, new correlations between diseases and genes or compounds of interest.

“Notiora has created an entirely new avenue to enrich biological and chemical informatics with the wealth of literature and other text data sources available,” said Mathew Hahn, Ph.D., vice president and general manager of SciTegic.  “We expect Pipeline Pilot users to derive substantial benefits from the cross-domain analyses these new technologies will permit – virtually any existing pipeline can be augmented with text analytics.”
